I miss my ankle bones...

No, seriously, where did they go?

In a couple days I'll be 34 weeks along.  Just a month and a half left to go.  Admittedly, that sounds like a really, really long time to keep growing, but I'm sure it will go by quickly too.  Sorry, no great profile shots right now, but maybe I'll post one soon.  Just trust me when I say I look big enough.  I frequently get the "Just a couple more weeks, right?" or "I bet that baby is ready to come out soon" comments.

Well, I just thought it might be time for some random pregnancy thoughts and updates.

My pregnancy is going pretty well, I'd say.  On the long list of miserable pregnancy symptoms, only a few of them seem to apply to me.  I still get back pain when I sit down, but I don't think it's quite as bad as the second trimester and I think I've learned to manage it a little better... or I have just accepted it. I'm not sure.

I can't say I love being pregnant in the summer.  For a girl who is always cold, I sure have really jumped to the other end of the spectrum... or perhaps just normalized.  Is this how everyone else lives?  Just hot and sweaty all the time? My window of acceptable temperatures has always been pretty narrow, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

On our 9 hour drive back from California, I took a nice little nap and when I woke up, my feet had swollen to twice their size.  They were enormous and we couldn't stop laughing.  After walking around  a little the swelling went down a bit, but my ankle bones have been a rare sighting since.

Last week I got my first ever pedicure with some girlfriends.  It was glorious especially since I don't like trying to reach my toes as much these days.

Pregnancy brain is a real thing.  Recently, my brain just feels a little foggier.  I'm trying to get in the habit of writing things down more.  Yesterday I submitted my tithing with an almost completely blank check.  Nice.

I don't know that I'm more emotional these days, but I'm certainly no less.  Have you seen the Target commercial with the kids getting accepted to college?  Makes me cry every time.

Well, that's me at 33 weeks.

I did it!

About a month ago, I got ambitious and decided to make a baby quilt with no prior experience or pattern.  I finally finished it this week.  It was fun and a little trickier than I expected, but if you don't look too closely, it looks like a pretty legit quilt!

 And the back...

Golfing

Golfing is one of the few activities I can still do and really, it's just nice to be outside.  The weather was perfect this particular day.  It was nice to have it a little cooler than it has been and we even enjoyed a brief summer shower.  I just love golfing with my husband.  I'm still hoping to go out at least once more before we're toting a baby in our golf cart.

4th of July

We had hot gorgeous beach weather all week... right up until the 4th of July.  We woke up to an overcast drizzly sky.  Still we headed down to the beach at 8:30 to secure parking and set up for all day fun.   As it happened, the clouds never did burn off.  We wore jackets most of the time and only the very bravest kids got in the water.    Still, we had a great day.  There was still wiffleball practice, great food, sand castles, great friends, and adorable kids.

Photo bomb.

Chris and I started burying the kids in the sand.  Of course they loved it and each wanted a turn.

California Love

We had some pretty spectacular weather while we were in California.  We spent a gorgeous day at the beach (but I didn't take any pictures) and another hot day at the pool.

On Monday, we headed into LA.  We started with Venice beach, strolled the boardwalk and stopped and watched the skaters at the skateboard park for a while.

Then we lunched at Hollywood Swingers Diner (a real hipster place) before walking down to Santa Monica Pier.

We made another stop at the LA County Museum of Art where they have these really cool lamp posts out in front.

Then we finished the evening at Dodgers Stadium with Matt and Laura.  We had great seats with lots of fly ball action,  but other than that, the Dodgers kind of disappointed us.  We had a great visit with Matt and Laura, though.

San Diego

I had a trade show down in San Diego.  It was so close to the 4th of July that we just decided to stick around for a week.  Chris came down on the last day of the show and stayed the night in my hotel.  The next morning we explored the Point Loma tide pools.   It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun chasing little crabs and watching the waves crash on the  rocks.

Chris, just checking out a whale's backbone.
