The Drive Home.

NOTRE DAME
We broke our drive home into four days.  The first day was our shortest.  We loaded up our car, threw our sorry excuse for a mattress in the dumpster and drove the five hours to Chicago.  On the way, we stopped at Notre Dame for a quick visit.  The campus is beautiful, of course.

CHICAGO
Chris and I both love Chicago, though we'd never been there together.  It was sad to only have one evening, but we visited Millenium Park, stopped at the Married with Children fountain (I had Love and Marriage in my head the whole time), and took in a White Sox game.

 The view from the stadium.

ST. LOUIS
Our next leg was 8 hours to Kansas City.  We left nice and early so we could spend a little time in St. Louis.  We stopped and saw the St. Louis Arch, of course, but most of our time was actually spent in line for Pappy's BBQ.  Had we known it would be a one and a half hour wait, we probably wouldn't have hopped in line, but because we couldn't actually see that the line continued down two long hallways, we decided to go for it.  In the end, Pappy's did not disappoint.  The ribs were great the pulled pork was perfect, but I was particularly fond of the green beans.  I highly recommend it, but maybe try the carry out option we discovered on our way out.

INDEPENDENCE AND LIBERTY, MO
We made it just in time to get a tour of Liberty Jail and then a quick tour in the Independence visitor center before they closed.  Liberty Jail was really neat.  It has been so fun seeing so many church historical sites, feeling the spirit of those places and getting a better grasp on exactly what was happening when in each of these locations.

Our next leg took us another 8 hours to Colorado Springs where we got to see my brother-in-law, Chris, tour their almost completed new house, and play some games.  Our last segment was almost nine hours to Kaysville, UT.  Jane was a champ the whole week.  In fact, she handled that last leg a lot better than I did.
