Jane's Blessing

Jane was blessed yesterday.  Scott and Elisha, Andrew and Jessica, Greg and Sherrill, Marshall and Marietta, Colette, and Shay all showed up to support.  It was great to have so many wonderful friends there.  Chris had Scott, Greg, and Andrew stand in the circle with him.  I asked Chris a few weeks ago if he was nervous about it at all and he said he wasn’t.  Afterward, he reported he was kind of nervous when it came time, but you wouldn’t know it.  He did a great job and it was a beautiful blessing.  I cried, but Jane remained quiet and alert through the blessing.  She is such a wonderful baby.  We are so blessed to have her in our lives.

Isn't she adorable?  She was killing me with all her smiles in this photo shoot.  Jane’s dress was modified from a pinafore that my mom found in her trunk.  We know she got it from her mother’s trunk, but that’s about it.  I love it though, and Jane looked beautiful.

This is when you know the photo shoot is over.

Sleeping Beauty

I seriously can't help myself.  I'm constantly taking pictures of her.  There's no way my second child will get this level of documentation.  Here's Jane sleeping peacefully at 5 weeks old.

I took Jane in to work the other day.  It was fun to see everyone and get caught up, but I left feeling like I have the sweetest deal ever.  I loved working there, but now that I spend my days at home with this sweetheart, I have no desire to return to that.  I love being a stay-at-home mom.  I thought it would be a hard adjustment after working full-time for some 10 years or so.  I thought I would be lonely at home and perhaps have difficulty adjusting to a different form of validation.  So far, that's not the case.  I just love it and still feel productive just going grocery shopping, taking a walk and then reading a book with Jane asleep on my chest.  I just love my new life!

Grandma Silva

Theresa came to visit for a few days last week.  It was fun to have her here holding and loving Jane all weekend.  Thanks for your help, Theresa!

On Saturday, we went up to Temple Square and City Creek.  Jane got spoiled at Baby Gap and then we enjoyed walking the Temple grounds and visiting the visitor center.  I haven't been through the visitor center in a while.  It just made me cry a lot.  I really love this church.  I was incredible to read about and watch the videos of early pioneers building the Salt Lake Temple.  We just don't know that same kind of sacrifice.  It made me really grateful.

There was a huge choir practicing in the Tabernacle so we stopped and listened for a bit.  I haven't been in the Tabernacle in ages.  It feels so tiny.  It's hard to believe it wasn't that long ago that General Conference was held there.

1 Month

This sleeping angel is one month old today and growing fast.  She's already outgrown some of her newborn clothes.  How does that happen so quickly?  Didn't I just barely bring her home from the hospital?

3 Weeks

A weekly baby post?  How long is she going to keep this up?  I know you're thinking it.  Answer:  I have no idea.  I typically don't keep anything regular like this up, so I'll just have to say, until I get tired of taking pictures of this cute baby.
Jane turned three weeks yesterday.  She's hit a growth spurt and started putting on some extra chub.  She eats ever hour and half or two hours, it seems.  She surprised me last night, though, sleeping for 5 hours straight (a personal best for her).  That was particularly nice since Chris is in San Francisco right now.
The big news in Jane's life these days:  her umbilical cord stump finally fell off and  left a cute little belly button.  As soon as that dries up all the way, it's time for a real bath for this little girl.  I'm excited. I think she's going to like it.
