On Saturday we went down to the Henry Ford Museum and Village. We only had a few hours, so we didn't have time for both. It was a beautiful day to be outside so we did the village. Three hours was not enough time. It’s huge and more interesting than we even
realized. We loved it. It has all kinds of old historic buildings
purchased by Ford and transported to the village including several of Edison’s
labs and offices, Noah Webster’s home where the first American Dictionary was
completed, and Henry Heinz house and first production sight. Did
you know the first product they produced was Horseradish? One of our favorites was the Wright Brother’s
cycle shop from Dayton, Ohio. In the
back of their shop was where they built all their first airplanes and shipped
them to NC for testing. Henry Ford also
acquired buildings that were personally meaningful to him. The house he was born and raised in is there
as well as his favorite schoolteacher’s home.
With the carousal music and brass bands, the steam engine and the old
Ford cars driving around, you really do feel transported back in time to this
old American town. It was awesome. I kind of wanted to live there.
This was part of the farm section, there were saw mills, cider presses, and barns. In the town craftman's buildings they show you how to throw pots, blow glass, and make candle sticks. You can try it all yourself for a price.
There was even a good old fashion baseball game going on. Old uniforms, no mitts, and a classic announcer with his transatlantic voice. Pretty fun. I wish we could have stayed longer.

That looks like so much fun. Maybe if you stay there long term you'll be taking all of us there!!
